There is a J Ferg Foam (or whatever else they're into) employee in the 5500 block of 18th Street that has had a company sign staked in his yard for well over three years. The Codes Department says that's legal as long as the sign isn't on the strip of land between the sidewalk and street. So any of your business owners that want to advertise your damn business at residential homes, well there's your opening. You might even be able to get away with neon signs or blinking signs. Want to park a junk vehicle in the street by your house that has had expired license plates for over three years and can't legally be operated on the streets due to that omission? Well, go right ahead. The Codes Department says that is a police matter and the Lubbock Police Department says they won't do anything unless they observe the driver driving the vehicle on city streets. There's one of those LOSERS in the 5400 block of 17th Street. Want to operate your Christmas lights all damn year long? That's O.K., too. That isn't a code violation. Go ahead and be a lazy butt without any common sense. My God, the Christmas light LOSERS are all over the place and junk up the city with light pollution and their bad taste.

My God, the number of snot-nosed future hoodlums chalking up sidewalks and driveways is out of hand. Hey, parents, give the costly taxpayer-subsidized germ spreaders some cardboard and keep them in your backyard. All you're doing is creating future graffiti criminals who think it's O.K. to spraypaint other people's property. In the meantime, this visual mess needs to be a code violation.
