Demonstrations all over the world from Europe to Russia to Australia to the USA, open revolts in several Arabic countries. The world is a-fixin' to turn over in its sleep and produce earthquakes. Who and what will be left standing?
Here is a most interesting article: www.thedailybeast.com/newsweek/2012/01/22/george-soros-on-the-coming-u-s-class-war.html
As Soros says, here in the USA the gap between rich and poor, between average and rich, has grown. Stage set for upheaval, social, political, economic.
The average American is on the face of it living better, with a bigger TV than ever before and a car or SUV that talks and navigates, and a newer bigger house; the downside is that nothing is paid for. The many have made the few rich by depleting our savings and home equity and accumulating a mountain of debt.
The Democrats are making a show of appealing to voters on that, with the first populist shots fired off Tuesday nite, not that much can or will be done.
The Republicans have deserted the field and handed the 2012 presidential election to the Democrats on a silver platter. Take a look at who's running on the GOP side:
1. The favorite, the "let them eat cake" candidate Romney, who is utterly oblivious as to the daily lives of the 99%, being in the upper 1/100 of 1% himself.
In hind sight, he ought to have taken a couple of thou out of the bank, changed his name, bought a wardrobe at Goodwill and gotten a job at a convenience store or fast food place for a year before campaigning. He didn't, and it shows.
2. The philandering candidate of self-forgiveness and forgetfulness, who after a career as a sticky-fingered public servant finally struck it rich feeding off political donations.
3. Santorum, who thinks that if we all return to that old time religion and pray a lot and outlaw abortion we will solve our problems.
4. The libertarian, who thinks that if government takes its hands off all tillers, the ship will steer a true course.
