Billy C once said on the radio, "Nothin' good ever happens after one o'clock in the morning." Amen, brother.
Yo' life expectancy grows perceptably if you are not out in the wee hours of the morning.
Why was a 67 year old man riding a bicycle at 1 a.m.? To or from work? Did he have lights? What was he doing either riding along University or crossing University away from the light at Glenna Goodacre? Did a vehicle swerve to avoid him and lose control? Will we ever know?
University does not have bike lanes or a decent lane margin for safety. I have ridden on University for a short distance in broad daylight, in light traffic. (Why? Once I was forced to make a hard right turn onto University because a car alongside me turned and I had to turn too to keep from being hit.)

Why did the newspaper say a Toyota Tacoma was an SUV? Isn't it a pick-up truck?
Why was the bicyclist crossing the street at one in the morning? I think he had been at the bars and was going home. Why cross there? Because he lived in Arnett-Benson and wanted to use the pedestrian bridge across Marsha Sharp at the stadium. My guess.

I am sorry for what I said about Mr. Whitmore. It was made clear today that he was going home after a late shift at the Overton Hotel. Innocent bystander. The most innocent, since the passengers knew the driver was drunk and elected to take their chances.
