Like Santorum, I am sick of phony theology. However, to me, he is a leading exponent of same.
To claim that contraceptives are against God's will is a ticket to the looney bin or the papacy, take your pick.
To claim that the Bible specifically forbids abortion is a claim that only non-Bible readers could make.
Phony, PHONY, PHONY theology! Shame on you, Santorum, for spouting your bilge to court the ill-educated masses.

Seems pretty specific to me.

The Hebrew is, "Thou shalt not murder." Nothing wrong with killing. Killing per se is not forbidden in the Old Testament.

And what, pray tell, does the Bible have to say about the rights of the unborn?

And what, pray tell, does the Bible have to say about the rights of the unborn? That you shouldn't murder them. Having a hard time keeping up?

Drs won't even try to save a fetus that is born less than about 22 weeks. Are they guilty of murder, or just witnessing an act of god?
With advances in medical technologies, we'll be pushing the age of viability back. We'll probably be able to use artificial uteri for doing what women do now. It'll be "have sex, or not, and let the outcome be without any cost to the woman involved that isn't also the outcome of the male involved.
Interesting possibility, the mom always being able to watch the birth of her baby without being in extreme pain, or on drugs. I got to watch two like that, but I think my LP had a different perspective.
I imagine the extreme religious right will insist that their women deal with pregnancy and birth as is traditional. I bet prenatal healthcare, education, and nutrition programs will get a boost then.
Basically, I'll be willing to afford an embryo the same rights as an adult, when we are willing and able to keep an embryo alive, with equal costs to both parents.
Until then, we still got people with penises trying to control people with vaginas, and uteri.
"Little Y" syndrome.
