They sure took figures of speech and similitudes seriously, when it was their own skins they were worried about.
If Sarah Palin had been a Democrat "targeting" Lubbock County Commissioneres and City Councilpersons and running ads with them in the crosshairs of a rifle scope, would they have served her with a criminal trespass order when she stepped off the plane to speak at LCU?

While the Uncle Fester lookalike shooter was as looney as can be, it has not been proved that the angry atmosphere in that part of Arizona did not contribute to his state of mind. We know what he wrote and told others; we don't know what he heard others say. Surely the man was not deaf and blind.
At the anniversary of the shootings, various newssources interviewed a man who was shot that day, who was at the scene of the shootngs not to greet Giffords but to protest to her. He said this month that Giffords made him "want to vomit." One reason is that she held on to that office for a non-functional year.
While he is an old coot with little besides acid and urine in his veins and bile in his eyes, I granted him a point: Giffords has occupied that office for a year and has not been able to function. The articles about him sparked my comment.
